Kevan Shaw BSc(Hons), ELDA, IALD MSLL, Design Director
Kevan has practised in lighting for over thirty years. During this time he has worked in almost every area of lighting design and brings a comprehensive practical and theoretical base to the team.
Hannah Neufeld, BDes(Hons), MSc, MSc, Senior Lighting Designer
Hannah joined KSLD in 2005, having first gained several years professional design experience with Maurice Brill Lighting Design, London. She graduated with an MSc in Light and Lighting from University College London in 2001, and gained a second MSc in 2009 from the University of Edinburgh in Integrated Resource Management. Hannah has excellent project management and organisational skills. Responsible for leading the in-house team on large projects, Hannah has wide experience of lighting across the hospitality, commercial and museum sectors. Hannah has worked on numerous significant projects for KSLD including the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, the Edinburgh City Chambers and the Wallace Collection, London.
Martin Granese, BArch(Hons), Lighting Designer
Martin graduated from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada in 2005 with a Bachelors in Architecture. He worked for Michael Spaziani Architects, Toronto, and KSR Architects, London, before joining KSLD in 2006. Martin has strong visualisation and presentation skills. Highly proficient at dealing with lighting’s technical aspects, Martin takes a determined and practical approach to finding design solutions. Since joining KSLD Martin has made a significant contribution to a wide range of projects including Aspire Tower, Qatar, the Kuwait Trade Centre, Tanfield House, Edinburgh, and St Paul’s and St George’s Church, Edinburgh.
Natalie Bell, BA(Hons), MSc, Lighting Designer
Natalie started working for KSLD in 2006 and gained an MSc in Architectural Lighting Design from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm in 2009. Writing her thesis on the topic ‘Lighting and the Perception of Safety’, Natalie has continued to pursue research in this area, and is involved with various professional and community initiatives to extend our understanding of this complex topic. At undergraduate level, Natalie studied Design and Craft at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, specialising in three-dimensional design. Natalie’s strong conceptual design and presentation skills are supported by excellent project management abilities. She has contributed to many projects with KSLD including the Radisson Blu, Kuwait, Beetham Liverpool West tower and United Tower, Kuwait.
Claire Hope, BA(Hons), MDes, Lighting Design Assistant
Claire joined KSLD in 2007 after completing a project-led Master of Design at Edinburgh College of Art. Gaining valuable experience from an industry placement with Ben Dawson Furniture, Claire has exceptional visualisation skills and a hands-on approach to design. She first became interested in lighting at undergraduate level while studying for a BA in Design and Applied Arts, centering her thesis project on outdoor theatre set design. Claire has worked on a number of projects with KSLD including Gardens by the River, Beijing, United Tower, Kuwait and New Acute Hospital for the South West, Northern Ireland. Claire’s main passions in lighting are exterior light art and landscape lighting.
