Here are the entries and results from our competition.
This is a first for the KSLD mid summer Barbie however we had 5 teams interpreting the idea of the sandcastle with lighting as a sort of theme or element. The teams varied considerably in number, age, mental age, and produced spectacular results.
The winning entry from Dave Hollingsby and team. This was a monument to the death of the incandescent lamp, the actual incandescence provided by a liberal dose of petrol:) The wining team walked away with a bottle of Champagne and a big bar of chocolate for the younger assistants.
As principle and only judge I was unable to rank the other entries so it is up to you to provide comments and score them for artistic interpretation and execution:)

1 An elegant take on the traditional sandcastle with a skilful use of tealights illuminating the towers.
2 An architects interpretation of the lighting brief, creative, and beautifully drawn. . . . .
3 A highly structured and planned example of lighting designer’s work, the Sea Horse
4 An interpretation of a Lighting Designer!
So over to you to rank the second place entries

4 An interpretation of a Lighting Designer! seems to rank highest for me as it reminds me of a Russian night in Lisbon with KS. I take it he’s drinking “LIGHT” ale!

This competition was rigged and Dave had insider knowledge….....I can’t prove anything for lack of evidence but everyone knows it’s true…..!

We all know Dave won it because he used fire, and Kevan is a sucker for arson!

I feel bound to defend the rigor of my judging! The winning entry had a coherent theme that was carried through and most definitely responded to the brief that it should be lit!
